Heartbreak
The pain is searing
It takes me right to the edge
Engulfs me momentarily
Over my head
Gasping for air
Steadying myself in the current
To not be swept away
Swept under
Lose my footing
Lose my mind
Lose my senses
Lose myself

I am rent with grief
Pulled apart in pieces
Scattered on the ground
Shredded
Help me to hold myself
Hold my head up high
I am struggling
and I know I am OK
I know I am strong
I know myself in this
I find myself through this

at once unbearable and true
